Why Dome?

Seperti yang kita ketahui, udara panas selalu bergerak naik. Contoh paling sederhana, lihatlah cara kita merebus air didapur. Ketel atau panci diletakkan diatas api, bukan dibawahnya kan?😀

Bentuk dome atau setengah bola, akan membuat udara pianas dari seluruh ruangan akan terkonsentrasi pada puncak bangunan, dan kemudian akan memudahkan proses pembuangan udara panas tersebut melalui exhaust.

Alasan lain lagi adalah bahwa tanaman membutuhkan cahaya maksimal untuk proses fotosintesisnya. Semakin banyak asupan cahaya, maka berpengaruh juga pada produktifitas tanaman tersebut. Bentuk Geodesic Dome memungkinkan cahaya matahari bisa berpendar ke seluruh sudut ruangan—errr salah, dome ngga punya sudut– dimanapun asal arah matahari tersebut (baca: pagi/siang/sore).

Goal utama sistem Aquaponics adalah: Tanaman organik yang produktif sepanjang tahun.
Artinya, unsur-unsur yang harus dipenuhi adalah:

1) Adanya nutrisi yang kontinyu dan bebas unsur kimia tambahan
2) Temperatur yang bisa dikontrol
3) Asupan cahaya maksimal kecuali waktu malam

Geodesic Dome + Aquaponics System = Marvellous!

Akhir tahun 2011 Prototype II Aquaponic Greenhouse kami yang berbentuk Geodesic Dome mulailah beroperasi.

Distributing nutrient-rich water

Yang mengagetkan adalah fakta ketika para petani sekitar mengunjungi greenhouse kami dan berbagi cerita, mereka biasa menanam tomat dengan masa tanam hingga 90 hari. Padahal sistem kami hanya membutuhkan 60 hari untuk panen. Artinya kami berhasil mengurangi masa tanam hingga lebih cepat 1 bulan dibanding masa biasanya!

 

Why Dome?

As we know it, hot air will always move up. Simplest example: when we boil water in the kitchen, we always put fire under the kettle, not above it, right?

Dome — or half sphere will make hot air inside will concentrate in top of the building, and then it will be easier for the exhaust system to get rid of the hot air and maintain the temperature cooler.

The other reason is the photosyntesis process by the plants. Dome with no corner will pass-through maximum sunlight to the objects inside. The more we get light, the more productive our plants are. Geodesic Dome makes possible for the sunlight to reach every corner –err we don’t actually have corners in dome– no matter which direction the sun is.

Our main goal for the Aquaponic System is: Productive, all year producing organic plants. It means that all of this factors had to be filled:

1) Continuous nutrition and free of chemical additives
2) Controllable Temperature
3) Maximum light exposure, except during the night.

At the end of 2011, Our Aquaponics System Greenhouse II started to operate.

The more amazing fact is when local farmers visit our greenhouse and we were having some chats about plants; they said that usually it takes 90 days for tomatoes to harvest. Meanwhile, our system only takes 60 days, it means that we can reduce the planting period for 1 month (or 30%+ efficiency) than regular soil planting system!
